How to update stock or prices from a supplier file

Add the supplier file as a data source, then a rule with Match with data source: match by SKU or GTIN and take its stock or price on every update.

Your store knows the products, the supplier knows the stock. Instead of copying numbers by hand, connect both and let a rule join them product by product.

  1. Add the supplier file as its own data source (XML, CSV, FTP or Google Sheets) - see Connect an XML, CSV, FTP or JSON feed.
  2. Open your main data source, go to Rules and create a new rule - for example “Stock from supplier”.
  3. Under then pick the field to fill - for example availability or a new column supplier_stock (New Column) - and choose Match with data source.
  4. Set Match the field to your key (for example sku), Match with data source to the supplier file, Match with field to the same key in that file, and Take field value to its stock or price column.
  5. Check Changes preview, then Save Rule.

Example

  • Your product: sku B-1042, availability empty
  • Supplier file: code B-1042, qty 14
  • After the rule: supplier_stock 14 - and a second rule can turn 0 into out of stock.
Products the supplier file does not contain keep their value. To join two catalogs into one instead, see Combine several data sources.
